Learning Coach

Habi Education Lab will be working on a professional development program focused on developing digital literacy of teachers. Actual program will run 5 months, reaching 1,000 teachers, divided into monthly cohorts of 200 teachers. Cohorts will be divided into smaller sections of 30-40 teachers, to be guided by a Learning Coach throughout the month-long program. Delivery mode is blended: 15 days of online distance learning sessions sandwiched between 4 days of face-to-face workshops. Activities are highly constructivist and project-based, providing opportunities for the participants to make things (documents, slide decks, graphics, media artifacts, etc.) that are interesting and useful for their teaching practice. We’re looking for Learning Coaches who will:

  • Facilitate face-to-face, project-based workshops on digital literacy to a section of 30-40 teachers. Demonstrate activities, give clear instructions, provide individualized feedback.
  • Guide participants through the 15-day online distance learning program. Arrange online meetings, perform school visits, do follow ups and phone calls, motivate participants, give formative feedback. Learning coaches will get to develop strategies appropriate for their respective participants.
  • Document the performance and experiences of the participants using a set of research tools: interview questions, surveys, observation rubrics, assessment tests. Create individual reports summarizing and analysing the data.
  • Collaborate with fellow coaches and the learning design team to refine the program curriculum and delivery strategies. Coordinate with the head coach on maintaining the quality of implementing the program.
  • Attend all meetings and events. Aside from the face-to-face workshops, there would be team meetings and regular office hours.

What we’re looking for in Learning Coaches:

  • Has teaching or working experience in a school setting. Deep understanding of the teacher perspective is crucial. Can empathize with teachers from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Knows how to contextualize digital literacy to real teaching and learning practices.
  • Adept in using technology tools useful for teachers. Must know: productivity and collaboration apps (MS Office, Google Suite, iWork, or Open Office), social media (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram), web publishing (WordPress, Wix, Medium, or others). Nice to know: Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Edmodo, Blackboard, or others) and other specialized educational apps.
  • Comfortable in communicating and teaching online. Can adapt to different chat and web-based communication ecosystems. Quick to respond.
  • Excellent facilitation and mentoring skills. Can lead small group discussions, provide personalized feedback, curate readings and resources for specific learners.
  • Basic skills in qualitative research. Can conduct interviews, document observations, collect and analyse multiple data sources click here (interview, observation notes, photos, videos, artifacts).

Terms:

  • 5-month, project-based, full time position starting January 15, 2016 until June 14, 2017. This is a paid position.
  • Average of 45 hours/week of work. Combination of face-to-face workshops, online distance learning, team meetings, and field work. Saturdays are work days.

Logistics Manager

Habi Education Lab will be working on a professional development program focused on developing digital literacy of teachers. Actual program will run 5 months, reaching 1,000 teachers, divided into monthly cohorts of 200 teachers. Each month the program locations will change: 2 in Metro Manila, one in North Luzon, one in Visayas, and one in Mindanao. Delivery mode is blended: 15 days of online distance learning sessions sandwiched between 4 days of face-to-face workshops. We’re looking for a Logistics Manager who will:

  • Manage and coordinate all moving parts of the program: transportation arrangements, venues, budget and finance, materials procurement, communication, schedules.
  • Ensure the timely cost-efficient implementation of the program
  • Attend all meetings and events. Aside from the face-to-face workshops, there would be team meetings and regular office hours. Saturdays are work days.

What we’re looking for in a Logistics Manager:

  • Works well under pressure. Thrives in urgency as demonstrated through prior work experience and projects, whether education-related or not. Preferred background in project management, event planning, office administration, teacher/adult training.
  • Efficient and strategic. Can use technology tools, people skills, troubleshooting, and quick-thinking to make sure the program runs smoothly. Knowledgeable in spreadsheet software (Excel or Google Sheets) and other digital productivity software. Can write (and finish) to do lists. Use of project management apps (Trello, Calendars, Basecamp, etc) is a plus.
  • Transparent and trustworthy. Comfortable sharing progress, ideas, challenges, and failures to teammates. Detailed in documenting finances. Should be adept in using various digital communication tools (text, chat, email, video calls, etc) to remain on-call and accessible.

  • 6-month, project-based, full time position starting December 15, 2016 until June 14, 2017. This is a paid position.
  • Average of 45 hours/week of work. Combination of face-to-face workshops, online distance learning, team meetings, and field work.
